ABOUT THE DIRECTOR, TALENT & ADMINISTRATION ROLE

The Director, Talent & Administration is a member of the leadership team who is responsible for Swipe Out Hunger’s most valuable asset–people. This opportunity calls for an innovative people and culture champion to work alongside a dedicated team to develop a high-performing workplace. The Director, Talent & Administration creates and implements various key people programs and refines internal processes and systems that enable our teams to do their best work. This is an ideal position for a professional who wants to be the ‘go-to’ role in all aspects of team management, from people to operations to technology systems.

Overall Role & Responsibilities:

  • Establish and socialize policies to promote a transparent, inclusive, and equitable workplace for Swipe Out Hunger staff, Board, and contractors.
  • Oversee the financial policies and practices of the organization alongside the Executive Director, Board, and other leadership team members.
  • Guide implementation of systems, processes, policies, procedures, and technology to improve efficiencies and strengthen the organization’s infrastructure through the identification and closing of operational gaps. 

People & Team Administration

  • Oversee all day-to-day people administration, including state compliance, payroll and benefits administration, annual open enrollment, compliance, employee relations, and other miscellaneous people processes.
  • Optimize key people programs including but not limited to onboarding, performance development, organizational planning, total rewards, internal processes/communication, & offboarding.
  • Develop relationships as a trusted and reliable people resource for our team by effectively troubleshooting both people and operational issues.
  • Co-lead initiatives that build a culture of belonging aligned with Swipe Out Hunger’s values & JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) priorities.
  • Cultivate a culture of collaboration; support the development of systems and protocols that create equitable and consistent work schedules across all departments.

Financial Management & Forecasting

  • Monitor overall financial functions and policy to ensure that accounting, reconciliations, billing and collection, internal controls, and taxes are organized, accurate, and audit-ready.
  • Lead the finance team, maintaining compliance and building investments.
  • Direct an organization-wide participatory annual operating budgeting process. 
  • Serve as the liaison to the Board’s Finance Committee by providing accurate and current financial updates, risk analysis, and forecasts. 
  • Oversee the audit process, including the Board’s Audit Committee in key decision-making.

Business Operations

  • Leverage data to guide strategic decisions; proactively find ways to collect and utilize data.
  • Own and enhance all people technology system usage; optimize technology for automation, collaboration, and efficiency whenever possible.
  • Establish opportunities for meaningful team engagement by reimagining current organizational events, communication, activities, and daily interactions.
  • Maintain relationships with professional service providers, including JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) consultants, legal counsel, insurance brokers, accountants, and banking professionals.
  • Review contracts and oversee policies to mitigate institutional risk.

Qualifications:

The following qualifications are representative of the mindsets, skills, and beliefs to work with a wide range of constituencies required of Swipe Out Hunger employees: 

  • Experience in a senior-advisory role with 5+ years of experience in a related organization, preference to experience at a community-oriented nonprofit
  • At least 3 years managing a cross-departmental function, experience coaching and developing individuals, &/or managing a complex (multiple projects) budget
  • Experience managing peers and leadership team as a whole
  • Interest in and resourcefulness around technology, especially HR platforms
  • Highly principled and trustworthy
  • Ability to lead professional development initiatives or identify the appropriate resources for the training, coaching, and development of employees
  • Experience successfully building, implementing, and adopting people programs and initiatives
  • Ability to establish strong relationships with colleagues throughout the organization
  • Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality
  • Strikingly unique balance of excellent communication and time management skills coupled with a strong detail orientation and ability to prioritize

Compensation & Benefits Package: 

This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary between $80,000-$95,000, commensurate with experience. Swipe Out Hunger provides a supportive benefits package, including 100% coverage for employees. This includes medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401K retirement matching after 6 months, flexible work hours, a $500/year professional development stipend, and a $400/year ‘Work Comfortably from Home’ fund.
